When cataract surgery is performed, we replace the human lens with a lens implant with which we correct myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. Biometry or the science of calculating the exact lens implant power needed is one of the most critical steps in a patient’s cataract evaluation. Central to these calculations is the machine which takes many of the important measurements in the eye; eg axial length, corneal curvatures, anterior chamber depth, lens thickness etc.
We are fortunate in having the newest iteration of the IOL Master 700TK as the mainstay of our cataract lens implant biometry investigation. With this technology, we are able to have a high degree of accuracy in post-operative refractive outcomes.
